My wife

She sits and quietly watches,

Patiently, she waits for me.

Ever present in my work,

I do not see.

For I am way too busy,

Either working or at play.

To see how much she,

Freely,

Loves me.

I go to work each morning,

Leaving her behind,

But, I think of her,

Many times,

While I am away.

She’s my best friend,

My confidant.

She loves me tenderly.

She supports me,

And defends me.

She’s my lovely wife,

Yes, mine.

How did I win her?

I wish I knew.

It’s her secret,

She won’t tell.

What little thing did I do?

I wish I knew.

Time passes,

Still patiently,

She waits.

She’s a force,

That’s ever present,

Giving me strength to carry on.

I can see the pain,

That’s in her heart,

Each morning when,

I leave to go to work.

But, she always greets me,

With a kiss,

When homeward bound I come.

I often wonder,

In the night,

As I watch her sleep,

If she's ever sorry,

She chose me,

Forever hers,

To keep.

Morning comes,

And I am up,

Out the door,

Once more.

Yet,

Patiently,

Again she waits,

It is I,

That she adores.
