Surprises

The two-toned kitty came walking by,

Sporting a racing stripe and a fluid drive.

It wasn’t the claws that made the doggy cry,

It was that spray of tear gas in his eyes.

Somewhere in the darkness he spotted his prey.

That silly doggy remembered the spray.

But it wasn’t the skunk as he thought he had found.

It was something quite different but still prey on the ground.

The creature was shy and tried to run away,

But doggy was fast and wanted to play.

Mightier than swords though the shy one displayed,

He penned his name with the quills as he played.

Now poor doggy was hurt and his nose was in pain.

The small creature sauntered off with little disdain.

For doggy had found Mr. porcupine could rain spears.

Harpoons in his nose and the smell was still there.

Now this be a lesson to all that be wise.

The weak can be brave and the small ones be strong,

But never the less you can count on this fact.

You better look close before you attack!
